We woke up to warm sunlight on our last full day in Hong Kong. The plan for the day was a simple one - relax. With a long flight ahead of us all we wanted to do was kick back and enjoy some R&R time.
Gathering our things together we caught a taxi over to the tallest building in the city, which houses in its top floors the lovely Ritz Carlton hotel.

We sipped lemongrass & honey in the lobby before checking into our room, which was full of light and had spectacular birds eye views.

The hotel's welcome platter - One of my favourite snack combinations is a bar of chocolate and fresh juicy fruit.

The first thing we did was get in our bathrobes and wonder over to the spa for a swim and sauna.

We dried off and headed back to our room to get dressed for drinks. The hotel has some lovely public spaces.

Once we were dressed we whizzed up several more floors to the hotel's famous bar Ozone. At 118 floors in the air, it has sensational views. You'll probably be more likely to look at what's going on inside the bar, rather than out of it though.

After a couple of glasses of wine and a cocktail or so we returned to our room, curled up on the sofa in front of Lost in Translation and gorged ourselves on room service. Club sandwiches are obviously an essential dish to order to your room, and we paired ours with a gorgeous beef burger cooked rare. Comfort food at its very best.

One last look at Hong Kong at night...

And then it was time for bed.

The next morning we had French toast and eggs benedict delivered to our room.

After breakfast we killed a few hours in the hotel's lobby lounge restaurant. We listened to jazz musicians, drank Tsingtao and iced tea, and I confess that burgers were ordered! Cake was as well...

We tore ourselves away from that inspiring yet comforting view...

...and bid Hong Kong farewell.
The trip was brilliant, the journey home was reluctant, and we both felt, for want of a better word, fairly maudlin to be returning to England so soon.
But perhaps that was just because we'd watched Lost in Translation the night before.
